Arts Alliance Tulsa’s newest initiative is called HEART or “Hear Art” which provides ASL Interpreters and sound magnification devices to deaf people in our community so they can enjoy the programming of the non-profit arts organizations that make up the Alliance.
By partnering with TSHA – a non-profit serving deaf & hard of hearing people- AAT will schedule interpreters to serve the Deaf Community. We have and continue to survey their constituents and are working with them to reach as many deaf people as possible to provide access to the arts. There are an estimated 16,000 deaf individuals in the State of Oklahoma and HEART is the only program of its kind providing access to the arts to more than just a single organization.
AAT provides Living Arts of Tulsa with a multitude of support and resources, both within the Tulsa community and nationally. Through the encouragement of the Arts Alliance, we have become connected to numerous nationwide educators who are allowing us to provide our patrons with a wide variety of experiences that we would not have been exposed to in the past. Furthermore, AAT allows us to collaborate with organizations within the alliance to build not only a stronger arts district, but a stronger Tulsa.
